ProDec is the UK's biggest and most widely distributed brand of trade decorating tools and accessories. Mini rollers are widely used by trade professionals in preference to brushes when painting flat areas with gloss and satin paints as they enable faster, more efficient coverage. They also have the added advantage of leaving no brush marks, which can sometimes be a problem with some water-based trim paints which are much faster drying than the traditional solvent/oil-based versions. Ice Fusion Gloss is a 6mm short pile that is suitable for water-based and solvent-based gloss and satin paints on smooth wood and metal surfaces including skirting boards, window sills, panel doors and metal panels. It is made from an advanced blend of polymers to give excellent loading, release and a trade quality ultra-smooth finish that is the closest to a spray finish you can achieve with a roller. The key feature is Fused Fibre Technology, which is exclusive to ProDec. The fibres are interwoven together, which increases their strength and makes the fabric lint-free: you can genuinely use Ice Fusion straight from the packaging without pre-washing and not have to worry about any fabric shedding as you paint that would slow you down. Fused Fibre Technology makes the fibres semi-elastic: you’ll notice the fabric has a spongey feel when you handle it. This means that during use the fibres bounce back into shape after they’ve been pressed against the surface, so with each stroke you get exactly the same finish quality as the last stroke, right up to the end of the job. The roller comes in a handy foil sealed, airtight clip close bag, so if the job takes more than one day you can keep paint on the roller wet overnight and get straight back to work the next day. Handy application hint: Fused Fibres are tightly woven, so it can take a couple of minutes, or a couple of loads, for the paint to work its way into the fabric. For best results, load the roller with paint then leave it for 5-10 minutes to soak in.
